Stanislaus 2030 is seeking a skilled and experienced Fund Development and Grant Writing Consultant to support its network of grantees in identifying funding opportunities and developing high-quality grant proposals. The goal of this engagement is to strengthen the capacity of Stanislaus 2030-funded partners by equipping them with the tools, strategies, and support they need to increase their programmatic impact through additional funding.

This consultant will play a critical role in ensuring that local organizations implementing Stanislaus 2030 strategies are well-positioned to sustain and scale their efforts through successful resource development.

Scope of Work

The selected consultant will work directly with Stanislaus 2030 grantees to provide:

  1. Fund Development Support
    Guide grantees in developing tailored fund development strategies that align with their mission and program goals.

  2. Grant Research
    Identify and share relevant funding opportunities (government, foundation, corporate, and philanthropic) that align with the work of individual grantees and the broader Stanislaus 2030 goals.

  3. Proposal Development
    Provide hands-on support to grantees in drafting, reviewing, and refining compelling, funder-aligned grant proposals—including assistance with budgets, narratives, and supporting materials.

  4. Capacity Building
    Offer technical assistance, tools, and coaching to enhance grantees’ internal capacity to independently pursue funding opportunities in the future.

  5. Stakeholder Collaboration
    Coordinate with Stanislaus 2030 staff and other technical partners to ensure that grantee efforts align with overall initiative goals and reporting requirements.

  6. Grant Management Guidance
    Assist grantees in understanding funder compliance requirements, tracking application progress, and preparing reporting materials for awarded grants.

  7. Trend Monitoring
    Stay informed of funding trends, policy changes, and new opportunities at the local, state, and federal level that could benefit grantee organizations.

 

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate or firm will demonstrate the following:

  • Proven track record of successfully securing grants for nonprofits, collaboratives, or public-private partnerships.

  • Strong knowledge of the grant writing process across various sectors (e.g., workforce development, education, small business, and child care).

  • Experience supporting multiple organizations simultaneously with fund development or technical assistance.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex programs into persuasive proposals.

  • Strong research and analytical abilities to identify relevant funding opportunities.

  • Experience in program budgeting and aligning financials with funder requirements.

  • Understanding of the nonprofit landscape and economic development context in California’s Central Valley (familiarity with Stanislaus County is a plus).

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including grassroots organizations, funders, and government agencies.

    Summary of relevant background, including experience supporting nonprofit organizations or collaboratives in securing grant funding.

  2. Approach and Methodology
    Description of your approach to supporting grantees, including how you would build trust, identify funding, and support proposal development.

  3. Work Plan and Timeline
    A proposed timeline for services, including how you would allocate time across multiple grantees and anticipated deliverables.

  4. Budget Estimate
    An estimated budget with fee structure (hourly, project-based, or retainer), along with any anticipated expenses.

  5. References
    Contact information for at least two past clients or partners familiar with your grant writing and fund development work.

  6. Contact Information
    Name, title, organization (if applicable), phone number, email, and website (if available).
